Maintenance Contract:

Q.What does a maintenance contract cover?
A.• Two service visits, per annum

• The system is checked for correct operation of the control panel and the detection devices.

• The back up battery voltage is measured and recorded. The warning devices are triggered to verify their operation. If the system is connected to a monitoring station all relevant signals are sent to the monitoring centre and they are verified to ensure that they have been received by the monitoring centre. All checks are detailed on our maintenance inspection check list and a copy will be furnished on completion of the service.

• The system is not covered for any faults or damage caused by mains electricity fault, telephone line fault, lightning, water damage, physical damage or by any other means.

Q.Does the maintenance contract include for any parts?
A.• Any materials which need to be replaced and are outside their manufacturers warranty or the installation guarantee period of 12 months will be charged for at the appropriate rates

Q.What are the advantages of having a maintenance contract?
A.• System is maintained and checked twice a year which means problems are identified early, which should held to eliminate requirement for an emergency response for routine items.

• Reduces the need for emergency callouts which are chargeable.

•Most insurance companies offer discounts on house insurance for premises that are maintained and monitored.

Q.How much does maintenance contract cost?
A.A maintenance contract can vary depending on the size and complexity of the alarm system. We will be happy to carryout a free of charge survey of your system and then we will provide a proposal for a maintenance contract.

Q.What do I need to do to take out a contract?

Monitoring:

Q.I have an existing alarm, can it be monitored?
A.Most alarm systems have the ability to be connected to a monitoring centre. A free survey can be carried out to determine what is required and following this a detailed quotation will be provided.

Q.What are the advantages of having my system monitored?
A.You have the peace of mind that there is back-up available if needed. In the event of the alarm activating when the premises are un-occupied a signal will be sent to the monitoring centre who will then contact your key holders and in the event of a verified alarm they will also contact the Gardai.

Q.What do I need to do to enable my system to be monitored?
A.You will need a digital modem communicator. If the system already has one of these it will just involve it being re-programmed. A free survey can be carried out to determine what is required and following this a detailed quotation will be provided.

Existing customers, following a Service:

Q.Why is there a charge for works carried out during service i.e. battery change etc?
A.It is recommended that the control panel battery be replaced at least every 4 years or sooner if required. The battery is checked for sufficient operation during each service and is not covered under the contract. All components in the system have an operational life-span and may need replacement if they are found to fail the test carried out by the engineer during the service.

Q.Why does the alarm go off after my service when it worked ok before?
A.There can be a number of reasons for this including:
1. A window or door may not have been securely locked prior to arming the system.

2. Inertia Sensors are mechanical devices and by their design they are subject to wear and tear and have a life-span dependent on their level of use. This can happen shortly after a service where the sensors have been adjusted electronically for correct operation but they have little wear left. The sensors are sealed units which have no access so it is not possible to see how worn they are, they can be tested electronically but this cannot determine how much wear is left in a sensor.

3. There may be a genuine reason for the alarm activating which could have been caused by a 3rd party, check on the outside of the premises to see if there any signs of an attempted break-in such as footprints in flowerbeds by windows or any signs of physical damage.

4. Are there any trees or bushes which may have grown and are now rest against a door or window which may cause vibration to the area during windy weather.

5. Was the alarm armed to the correct setting? Maybe a pet was left in an unsuitable area where there is a movement detector.
