| Q. | Why is there a charge for works carried out during service i.e. battery change etc? |
| A. | It is recommended that the control panel battery be replaced at least every 4 years or sooner if required. The battery is checked for sufficient operation during each service and is not covered under the contract. All components in the system have an operational life-span and may need replacement if they are found to fail the test carried out by the engineer during the service. |

| Q. | Why does the alarm go off after my service when it worked ok before? |
| A. | There can be a number of reasons for this including: 1. A window or door may not have been securely locked prior to arming the system.
2. Inertia Sensors are mechanical devices and by their design they are subject to wear and tear and have a life-span dependent on their level of use. This can happen shortly after a service where the sensors have been adjusted electronically for correct operation but they have little wear left. The sensors are sealed units which have no access so it is not possible to see how worn they are, they can be tested electronically but this cannot determine how much wear is left in a sensor.
3. There may be a genuine reason for the alarm activating which could have been caused by a 3rd party, check on the outside of the premises to see if there any signs of an attempted break-in such as footprints in flowerbeds by windows or any signs of physical damage.
4. Are there any trees or bushes which may have grown and are now rest against a door or window which may cause vibration to the area during windy weather.
5. Was the alarm armed to the correct setting? Maybe a pet was left in an unsuitable area where there is a movement detector.
