R. A. S. Security Systems provides Access Control systems from single door digital keypads up to multi-door applications and multiple sites over LAN and WAN. The systems can control standard doors, and fire exit doors and can be integrated with other systems, such as Intruder Alarm, CCTV and Fire Alarm Systems. The systems can operate with pin code, proximity card, swipe card and biometric readers.
The system can also have additional security features requiring both a card and a pin number to gain access. This ensures that if the card is lost access it is not possible, for somebody who finds the card, to enter without also having the pin number. The systems can also be provided with biometric readers that will detect finger, palm or iris, depending on the requirements of the client. The systems can be stand alone, networked within a single building or multiple sites or buildings networked together via a broadband connection. The systems can be provided and controlled directly from a PC within the company. This can be any PC and it does not have to be a dedicated PC for the access control system.
The operation of the system is quite easy and staff can be trained to add and remove cards and users as required. The system has the ability to programme the access granted by user, by time and by door. This means that specific people, while they may have access to a particular room through normal hours, for example 9 to 5, but outside of these times their card will not grant them access. The advantage of multiple sites controlled by a single system means that as people transfer between sites they do not have to be re-issued with new cards for a separate system. Central control means that their card can be authorised for the specific areas in multiple sites. The access control systems can be integrated with Intruder Alarm Systems, CCTV and Fire Alarm Systems.
The integration with CCTV will mean that in the event of somebody using their card on a particular door the adjacent CCTV camera will record that entry into the specific area and it can be verified that the correct person entered using the appropriate card. The access system cards can be deactivated once the intruder alarm system is armed, this means that even though somebody may have access through the main entrance door during normal working hours, once the building is alarmed their access is removed until such time as someone authorised to turn off the alarm system carries out that function, at which point the relevant access cards will re-activated.
The Access Control System can provide a computer generated list of all of the people in the building which is very useful in the event of a fire alarm activation. This helps in verifying who was in the building at the time of the fire alarm activation and it also provides a check list to ensure that all of the people in the building have been evacuated in an emergency. In the event that someone is missing it is possible to use the system to identify where the person last used their card and therefore it would be possible for the emergency services to identify their location and help them leave the building. The system can also automatically release fire doors in the event of a fire alarm activation, therefore making it easier for people to exit the building. RA.S.
